Utrecht May 27th 2026 Receptie

A day in the life of a Hospitality employee

This is what a workday looks like for a hospitality employee at Utrecht City Apartments:

You start your day with a cup of coffee and ensure everything is ready for a new day full of arrivals. You check if the apartments are perfectly taken care of, so guests can check in without worries.

Upon arrival, you are the first point of contact and ensure a warm welcome. You help guests with tips about Utrecht and the surroundings and make sure they feel at home right away.

Throughout the day, you process reservations, answer emails and phone calls, and keep the administration in order, including light financial tasks. In case of questions or unexpected situations, you act quickly and think in solutions.

Additionally, you regularly walk rounds through the apartments and public areas. You have an eye for detail and immediately notice if something is not quite right, and you address it immediately, so everything always looks well-maintained and up to standard. You also check if all facilities are functioning well, so guests have nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, you keep an eye on whether the housekeeping stock is still sufficient and alert on time if something needs to be replenished.

At the end of your day, you ensure a clear handover to your colleague who takes over the next shift. You share important details, ongoing points of attention, and everything needed to ensure the work continues smoothly.

No day is the same, but one thing is certain: thanks to your efforts, our guests lack nothing.

The skills behind the smile

  • MBO level 3+ working and thinking level
  • Communicative skills in at least 1 foreign language
  • Knowledge of software packages and internal procedures
  • Possessing a first aid certificate is a plus
  • You are hospitable and want to provide your guests with a unique experience
  • An enthusiastic and independent employee with (how could it be otherwise) an eye for detail;
  • Flexibly deployable: shifts also take place on weekends and evenings;
  • You are communicatively skilled in Dutch and English (an additional foreign language is a plus);

The cookie with the coffee

At UCC, you don't just become a colleague, but part of a close-knit family. We believe that work is more than just performing: it's also about experiencing together. That's why we regularly organize family moments like UCC drinks and UCC parties, and special moments like anniversaries are celebrated together. New colleagues are warmly welcomed during the Welcome to UCC day where you meet new colleagues and get to know the company better.

Of course, you also want to know what you get in return for all that hard work, so here are some important things at a glance.

  • A salary in scale 4;
  • A 24 - 30 hour contract;
  • Travel allowance from 10km commuting distance based on public transport.
